PSHE Curriculum at Imperial Avenue Infant School 

At Imperial, we teach Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) as a whole-school approach to underpin children’s development as people and because we believe that this also supports their learning capacity.   We follow a scheme called Jigsaw.  We chose this scheme because our Junior school follows it too. It covers all SRE expectations form the national curriculum. 

The Jigsaw Programme is a comprehensive, carefully thought-through Scheme of Work which brings consistency and progression to our children’s learning in this vital curriculum area.  The overview of the programme can be seen below.  We work hard to ensure we edit areas to suit our cohort of children. 

Everyone in school follows the same puzzle piece e.g Being me in my world (Autumn 1) each half term a new puzzle piece is introduced in a whole school assembly.  Lessons are then differentiated for each year group.

Each year group has their own Jigsaw soft toy character who helps them with their learning.  Ask your child if they have met Jigsaw Jenie, Jigsaw Jack or Jigsaw Jo and how they have helped in their lessons.
