Mental Health

We would always take our children or ourselves to the doctors if they were ill physically. It is just as important to recognise when someone's mental health is not good too.

This page will be added to as we find places to go for advice or support.  Please ask in school about anything in particular and we can research this and get back to you as well as update this page

My Self-referral – Mental health support for pupils

“MySelfReferralLLR is a website designed to provide mental health information for children and young people in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, under the age of 18 years. There is also the ability to self-refer for a mental health assessment for some conditions. The site has been designed to work on computers, smart phones and tablets. Schools and education professionals can support Children and Young People (CYP) by understanding what the site can offer, increase awareness to students, families, and carers, so that CYP in need can recognise their feelings and start to help themselves to get better by taking ownership of those feelings.

The triage team behind the website encourage CYP to complete self-referrals if they are eligible, with peers, siblings, patients, carers, social workers and education professionals, who can all provide guidance by empowering individuals to have the courage to self-refer. Pastoral care at school already provides physical, mental and wellbeing for students, and the self-referral website is a “one stop shop” and could be used in addition to resources currently in use. Talking through and walking through the website gives CYP the confidence to be able to find out information for themselves, and can be accessed at home, and self-refer if they need to, and at a time that is convenient for them. After self referring, and outcome will be provided to the CYP, their family and GP.
