The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
In Foundation 2 we follow the 'Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.' This is split in to 7 areas.
The 3 prime areas which are
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
The other areas are
- Knowledge and Understanding
- Expressive Arts and Design
At the end of the Foundation 2 year children are assessed against 'Early Learning Goals' in each area. Most children will have gained 'A Good Level of Development' over the year and be 'Year 1 ready' by the end of this year.
Early Adopters 2020-21
This year at Imperial Avenue Infant School we have chosen to be 'Early Adopters' of the new 'Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum' This will become statutory for all schools in England for the academic year 2021-22. The curriculum is split in to the same 7 areas as previously and the children will still be assessed against the 'Early Learning Goals' at the end of the academic year. The curriculum we teach will change slightly in all areas and the Early Leaning Goals themselves have also changed. We will keep parents informed about the curriculum over the year through the website, Class Dojo and parent information meetings either online and hopefully face to face when this is safe to do so.
